New Tutorial ~ Purple Rain



This tutorial is written for those with a working knowledge of PSP.
Supplies Needed:
 I am using Corel PSP X2 version but any version will do.
 Tube of choice.  I am using the sexy artwork of Olivia. You can purchase a license at CILM.

Optional Plugin ~ EyeCandy 5 ~ Textures
 Font for name is Duet, a pay font
 
 
 * * * * *
1. Open a new transparent image 650 x 650 pixels. Flood fill white. You can resize later.
Add a new raster layer, selections ~ All.  Open element 14 (galaxy stars) copy 'n paste into the selection.
Selections ~ none. Sharpen. Colorize Hue 188, Saturation 40.
Add a new raster layer, flood fill with color #67597a.
Open WSL_mask 6, minimize. Layers ~ New Mask Layer ~ From Image ~ find mask and apply.
Merge group.  Resize mask layer 105%. Move slightly to right. Duplicate and move duplicate slightly to left.

2.  Open element 15 (purple glitter) resize 600 px wide. Copy 'n paste as a new layer
above your mask layers. Move slightly to left. Duplicate ~ mirror ~ flip.
Drop opacity of both layers to approx. 85%.

3.  Open element 17 (purple heart), resize to 600 px wide. Copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Sharpen once. D/S 2, 2, 55, 5 blur, color black

4. Open element 8 (purple circle) resize approx 19%. Copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Using magic wand, click inside center of element, selections ~ modify ~ expand by 10 px.
Add a new raster layer, flood fill with color of choice or #322940. Do NOT deselect yet.
Move this layer below the circle layer.
Using EyeCandy 5 Textures ~ Texture Noise ~ find preset setting:  salt and pepper
(if you don't have this plugin, use any noise effect of choice.)
Open element 26 (purple raindrops), resize to 450 px wide. Copy 'n paste as a new layer
above the purple layer you created but below the circle frame. Selections ~ invert ~ delete ~ selections none.
D/S the circle frame and rain drop layers.

5. Open element 35 (tulle) resize to 550 px wide, copy n paste as a new layer
Colorize white using Hue 255, Saturation 0.
Move this layer below the frame and purple texture layer you created. See reference tag.
Move slightly to right. Duplicate ~ mirror  Using pick tool, rotate duplicate layer to right and move upward. Sharpen.
Duplicate again ~ flip.

6. Add tube of choice. D/S.

7. Now add any flower elements of choice. Element 7, resize 600 px wide. Colorize with same setting if desired.
Element 13 (gingham ribbon) resize to 500 px in HEIGHT ~ mirror
(I erased part of the gingham ribbon that is seen behind main tube.)
Element 6, resize 10% & 75%.
Element green leaf with flower, resize to 450 px wide. Copy 'n paste above purple heart layer, moving to right of tag.
Colorize Hue 188, Saturation 40. Duplicate ~ flip

8.  Open element green leaf with flower, using selection tool, draw a selection around flower only.
Copy 'n paste as a new layer. Resize 18%. Colorize. Duplicate as many times as you wish.

D/S all elements added.

*Resize enter tag at this point if desired using 85 - 90% smart size ~ all layers checked*

9.  Add your copyright, URL, watermark and name.
 
 Close off white background. Merge visible ~ save as a .Png.

New Tutorial ~ Timeless



This tutorial is written for those with a working knowledge of PSP.
Supplies Needed:

Toadies Plugin ~ What Are You

 Font for name is Ephesis ROB, a pay font
 
This is a signature forum style tag.
 
 * * * * *
1. Open a new transparent image 700 x 300 px. Flood fill white.
Open the frame supplied. Copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Select All select float, defloat, modify selections ~ expand by 1
Open 'n copy paper 5, paste as a new layer, Selections ~ invert ~ delete ~ selections ~ none.
Duplicate this layer.
On the original layer, use Toadies Plugin ~ What Are You ~ settings: 20, 20
Choose duplicate layer ~ merge down ~ duplicate
 
2.  Add a new raster layer above the white background layer.
Choose flood tool, make a gradient from two colors from the swatch provided in the kit or colors
foreground #fbd0c7, fill #a5544e ~ foreground choose gradient ~ linear style, angle 45, repeats 3
Flood fill the raster layer.  Open mask, minimize
Layers ~ From New Mask Image ~ find starside triple frame mask ~ source luminance, invert checked. Apply.
Merge Group. Using pick tool, move the nodes towards center, horizontally, to make the mask layer approx 485 px wide.
Move mask to left side of tag.  Duplicate mask layer ~ mirror. 
Erase any part of the duplicate copy that overlaps original mask layer.
 
3. Open tube of choice. Copy 'n paste as uppermost layer. If using same tube, rotate tube 10 degrees to left. D/S -3, 3, 45, 7 blur, color #404040.
 
4. Now personalize tag with elements of choice. 
Sunflower1, bow1, tag1, green leaf, branch2, pussywillow branch, leaves3 = all at 50%.
Heart1 ~ 50% and further 75%. Rotate with pick tool to right.
D/S each 1/1/45, 5 blur, color #404040
The curled ribbon 80% ~ image flip.
WordArt ~ Timeless ~ 25%.  Selections ALL, float, defloat, open paper 6, copy 'n paste as a new layer
Selections ~ invert ~ delete. Selections ~ none. D/S & Sharpen once.
Delete original wordart layer.
 
 5.  Add your copyright, URL, watermark and name.
 
 Close off white background. Merge visible ~ save as a .Png.

New Tutorial ~ Scarlet

This tutorial is written for those with a working knowledge of PSP.
Supplies Needed:
 I am using Corel PSP X2 version but any version will do.
 Tube of choice.  I am using the seductive artwork of Jamie Kidd. You can purchase a license at CILM.

 * * * * *
This tut will be a quickie.
 
1.  Open up a new transparent image 600 x 600 pixels and flood fill white.
Open element1 (white ribbon frame), resize it to 400 px WIDE. Copy 'n paste on working image.
Using freehand selection tool ~ point-to-point, draw a selection just beyond the inner portion of the
ribbon frame. Open paper2, resize to 600 px. copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Selections ~ Invert ~ press delete on keyboard. Move this paper layer below the ribbon frame.
Do NOT deselect yet.
Open tube of choice, resize if needed, copy 'n paste as a new layer above the paper but below the ribbon frame.
Center tube to your preference. Press delete. Selections ~ none.
D/S the ribbon frame 3/3/55, 10blur, color black
Duplicate tube layer. On duplicate layer ~ adjust ~ Blur ~ guassian blur ~ radius 3
Change blend mode of this layer to soft light.
D/S the original tube layer with same setting as above.
Sharpen once.
 
2.  Open Cinnamon Scraps Wire1 (heart-shape), resize to 600 px wide.
Copy 'n paste as a new layer above your white background. Rotate ~ free rotate ~ 15 degrees to left. Sharpen.
Colorize ~ Hue 255, Saturation 132
Adjust Brightness/Contrast ~ minus 40, 5
D/S with a light setting 3/3/35/5blur, color #404040.
 
3.  Open element12 (red dots), resize to 600 px wide. Copy 'n paste as a new layer above the white background.
Duplicate ~ mirror & flip. Move duplicate layer to your liking.
 
4. Open element14 (black/white gingham ribbon), resize to 500 px wide.
Copy  'n paste as a new layer ABOVE your white ribbon frame.
Using selection tool, point-to-point, draw a selection as below:

Promote this selection to layer on your layer palette. Do Not deselect yet.
Select original ribbon layer (layer not promoted) and press delete on keyboard.
This seperates the two pieces of your ribbon into two layers.
Selections ~ none. Move the left portion of the ribbon BELOW the ribbon frame & slightly to left.
Move right portion of gingham ribbon to the right and rotate slightly using pick tool (deformation tool).
The idea is to make it appear the gingham ribbon is interwoven with the white ribbon frame.
Sharpen both gingham ribbon layers and D/S 3/3/55/10 blur, black
 
Note:  Do not be concerned the gingham ribbons don't touch at the upper portion as
this will be covered with red bow and brown flower.
 
5.  Personalize your tag with other elements. Leaf resized 15%, element4 (red bow) approx. 18%,
Element9 (brown flower) 10%,  element 9 (red flower), resized to 500 px. wide and element 6 ~ resized to 550 px in HEIGHT.
Rotate element 6 (red berry sprig) with pick tool (deformation tool) as per reference tag.
Using selection tool, freehand selection ~ point-to-point, select a portion of only the berries on the sprig
and promote the selection to a layer on your layer palette. Selections ~ none.
Image ~ flip ~ mirror and again use pick tool to rotate the berries to upper right corner of tag.
D/S all your added element layers.
 
6.  Add your copyright, URL, watermark and name.
 Close off white background.  Merge all visible and save as a .png.

New Tutorial ~ Sock Hop



 This tutorial is written for those with a working knowledge of PSP.
Supplies Needed:
 I am using Corel PSP X2 version but any version will do.
Tube of choice. I am using the sexy artwork of Marco Guaglione. You can purchase a license to use his work at MPT.

Plugin In ~ EyeCandy 4000 ~ Gradient Glow
Optional Plugin:  Lokas Software ~ Gel ( for name only )
Font for the name is Impact.
Animation Shop
 
  * * * * *
 
 1.  Open up a new transparent image 600 x 600 pixels and flood fill white.
Add a new raster layer ~ selections ~ select ALL
Open paper 5, copy 'n paste into the selection. Selections ~ none.
Open my mask and minimize. Layers ~ New Mask Layer ~ From Image ~ find Chas11mask 'n apply.
Layers ~ Merge ~ Merge group. Sharpen once. D/S ~ 0,0, 40, 5 blur, black.
 
2.  Open the jukebox, resize to 450 px in HEIGHT. Copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Open the sockhop wordart, resize it to 550 px in width. Copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Align the wordart above the jukebox by slightly moving the jukebox downwards.
 D/S wordart then colorize using adjust ~ Hue & Saturation ~ 0, 188
Duplicate the jukebox layer.
On the original jukebox layer, using Eye Candy 4000 ~ gradient glow ~ Find the preset Neon Outline setting 'n apply.
(Neon outline setting: glow width 36, soft corners 25, overal opacity 100%)
using colors # 0000ff & # c4c4fe as below:

Hide (by clicking on eye) the neon jukebox layer for now. D/S the duplicated jukebox layer only.
 
3.  Open the vinyl record supplied. Resize 50%. Copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Using the pick tool (deformation tool), pull down the top edge to slightly flatten the record.
Then holding down shift key on keyboard, move top left corner node to angle the record.
Nullify the pick tool by clicking on text tool. D/S record and duplicate twice, resizing the dupliate layers 75%.
 Arrange as per reference tag to make a cluster.
 
4. Open the black musical note2, resize 550 px. in WIDTH. Copy 'n paste as a new layer ABOVE the jukebox layers. D/S.
Add any other elements you desire. The eyeglasses, resized 10% and musical note1, resized 25%.
 
5. Add tube of choice, resized if needed. Copy 'n paste as uppermost layer. D/S.
 
6.  Add copyright, URL, watermark & name.
 Font ~ Impact, sz 72, black foreground, fill #f890e2. Stroke width 3, anti-alias smooth.
Type name.Stretch nodes if needed to elongate name. Convert to raster layer.  Selections ~ select all ~ float, defloat, selections modify ~ contract 3.
Using Lokas ~ Gel ~ setting below using color #f890e2:

Selections ~ none. D/S twice.
 
To animate:
 
 7.  Close off white background layer. Be sure Neon Jukebox layer is still closed off as well.
 
*Note:  we will be lightening the musical note2 layer into 5 sections, starting from the left and
then reversing back, right to left.
 
Click on musical note2 layer, copy MERGED and paste in Animation Shop as a new animation. (Frame 1)
Back to PSP, open the neon jukebox layer, drop opacity of this layer to 30%.
Choose musical note2 layer, using Lighten/Darken tool, lighten the Treble Clef using left click on mouse and holding for desired lightness.
When happy, Copy MERGED and in A/S, paste after current frame. (Frame 2)
Back to PSP, undo the lighten effect. Change the opacity of the neon jukebox layer to 60%,
Back to musical note2 layer, lighten the next section on this layer, including the small musical note to the right of the Treble Clef.
Copy MERGED, paste in A/S after current frame. (Frame 3)
Back to PSP, undo the lighten effect. Change the opacity of the neon jukebox layer to 80%.
On musical note layer2, lighten another section, including the next 2 musical notes.
Copy MERGED 'n paste in A/S after current frame. (Frame 4)
 Back to PSP, undo lighten effect. Change opacity of neon jukebox layer to 100%.
On musical note2 layer, lighten another section (behind girl tube)
Copy MERGED and paste in A/S after current layer. (Frame 5)
Back to PSP, undo lighten effect, leave opacity of neon jukebox layer at 100, lighten the tail end of the musical note2 layer.
Copy MERGED and pase in A/S after current layer. (Frame 6)
Undo lighten effect, drop opacity of neon jukebox layer to 80%. On musical note2 layer, lighten
an area to the left of the tail end (essentially reversing the direction of the ligtening effect we achieved above).
Copy MERGED 'n paste in A/S after current frame. (Frame 7)
Back to PSP, undo lighten effect, drop opacity of neon jukebox layer to 60%
On musical note2 layer, lighten a section in middle of musical note.
Copy MERGED 'n paste in A/S after current frame. (Frame 8)
Back to PSP, undo lighten effect. Drop opacity of neon jukebox layer to 30%
On musical note2 layer, lighten section to left of middle, including two notes.
Copy MERGED 'n paste in A/S after current frame. (Frame 9)
 
In A/S, Edit ~ Select ALL ~ change the frame properties to 17 and animation properties to color white.
Preview animation by choosing View.
If happy, optimize animation using Optimized Octree.
Save as a .GIF.
