New Tutorial ~ Ghosts of Halloween

This tutorial is written for those with a working knowledge of PSP.
Supplies Needed:
I am using Corel PSP X2 but any version will do.
Tube of choice.  I am using the amazing artwork of Ismael Rac. You can purchase a license to use his art at AMI.
FTU Scrap Kit called That October Kit no longer available but a similar cluster can be found HERE
Halloween Mask by me found HERE
Plugin EyeCandy 4000 ~ HSB Noise to animate
Optional Plugin ~ Xero ~ Greyscaler
Font for name is called LD Scary

* * * * *

1.  Open a new transparent image 650 x 600 pixels. Flood fill white so we can see what we're working with.
Open the black ribbon frame, resize to approx. 475 px. wide.
Copy 'n paste as a new layer.
Using magic wand, setting: add shift, color, tolerance 20, feather 0,
click inside the center of the black ribbon frame
Selections ~ modify expand by 5
Open paper 8, resize it to 600 px wide, copy 'n paste as a new layer
Selections ~ invert ~ delete. Selections ~ none.
Move this paper below the frame layer. Sharpen once.
Drop shadow the ribbon frame with a heavy setting or 10/10/50/5 blur, color black

2.  Open tube of choice, resized 95%, if using the same close-up tube
copy 'n paste as a new layer above the paper, but below the ribbon frame.
center as you wish.  Roughly erase any part of the bottom of the tube
that extends beyond the bottom of the frame
OR
using the selection tool ~ point-to-point, draw a selection along the bottom of the tube that extends beyond
the bottom of the frame.
Duplicate the tube. Move the duplicate copy above the ribbon frame layer.
Again, erase the bottom part of the tube so the ribbon frame shows through.
Also erase her left and right arms.

3.  Using a similar technique taught by a wonderful tutorial writer by the name of Vix, in her tut called Dreams or Nightmares
we are going to greyscale the tube, leaving the lips & mouth red.

Duplicate the upper tube copy layer.
Using the plugin Xero ~ greyscaler ~ standard setting, apply
OR
use Adjust ~ Hue 255, Saturation 0 (within your PSP) to grey color the tube.
Using the centre wheel on your mouse, magnify your working image to approx 250%.
Using the selection tool, point-to-point, draw a selection around her lips
When happy, press delete.  This nicely accentuates her vampirish mouth.
Selections ~ none.

4.  On the original tube layer, use the Xero ~ greyscaler plugin again OR
Hue 255, Saturation 0. Dropshadow this tube layer.

5.  Add a new raster layer above your white background layer,
Selections ~ select All
Open paper 14, copy 'n paste INTO the selection. Selections ~ none. Sharpen.
Open mask and minimize.
Layers ~ New Mask Layer ~ from Image ~ find chas14mask and apply.
Merge group. Resize the mask layer by 95%.
Center mask to your image if needed.

6. Now to personalize your tag, add a few pumpkins (resized 20% & 15%), Halloween metal tag (15%), bow (20%)
moon (15%), black ribbon (resized to 570 px wide) and ghost (10%).  Duplicate ghost and resize duplicate 70-75%.
Greyscale the pumpkin and metal tag by using Image ~ greyscale within your PSP before adding it to your tag.
OR using Hue 255, Saturation 0.

Drop shadow the pumpkins, metal tag, bow and ribbon using 2/2/50/5 blur color black

7.  Add your name to the metal tag in font of choice, in any fill color, foreground nil.
Using effects ~ 3D effects ~ cutout ~ setting: V & H 2, opacity 55, blur 5, shadow color black.
Add dropshadow of 1,1,100, 1 blur, color white. Duplicate if you prefer the text darker.

8.  Close off the white background layer.
On one of the ghost tube layers, duplicate twice for a total of 3 layers.
On the original ghost tube layer, use EyeCandy 4000 ~ HSB noise
Settings as below:

On the copy of the ghost layer, apply the HSB noise again but click once on random seed.
On the second copy, apply the HSB noise again, clicking on the random seed one more time.
At this point, rename the ghost layers ~ ghost 1, ghost 2, ghost 3
Close off ghost 2 & 3 layers for now.

9.  Do the same for the other ghost tube layer, as in Step 8.
Remember to rename the ghost layers ie. Ghost A, Ghost B, Ghost C
Close off Ghost B & C layers.

10.  If you won't be resizing your tag in animation shop, add your copyright, URL and watermark now.

11.  Click on the masked layer in PSP. Copy merged.
Open Animation shop, paste as a new animation.

Back to PSP, close off Ghost 1, open Ghost 2
& close off Ghost A, open Ghost B
Copy Merged and paste after the current frame in A/S.

Back to PSP,
close off Ghost 2, open Ghost 3
& close off Ghost B, open Ghost C
Copy Merged and paste after the current frame in A/S.
You now have 3 frames in A/S.
File ~ select All
change animation properties to opaque white (or black if desired).
Also, change frame properties to 25.
Preview animation, if happy, optimize and save as a .gif.

I hope you enjoy your new tag!
